ELEVEN is a new periodical based upon the work of Diploma/March Unit 11 at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. The publication is scheduled to run bi-annually to showcase the gamut of ideas, both visual and written, which the unit produces, and to extend the these projects beyond the confines of the institutional boundaries.

The first volume of work, entitled FIELD OPERATIONS, takes at its heart the analysis of the guidelines for actions, and definitions of measures that are laid down by countless authorities endeavouring to control the effects of ensuing events. We summise neither the rural nor urban landscape is immune to the advance of these nervous reactions as we aim to fix on the moving target of an uncertain future. Our culture is voracious in its consumption and production of data. Typically, questions and answers are provided by its statistical manipulation.

The first issue of ELEVEN is currently on sale at both the AA and RIBA bookshops for the price of £3. It will shortly be available for purchase through www.smoutallen.com.

ELEVEN Volume One editorial team are Luke Pearson, Tom Finch, Mark Smout, Laura Allen and Ana Monrabal-Cook. Design by Luke Pearson.
