Ecologies of Healing is a children’s healthcare and education centre designed within the disused Tasso Oak Amphitheatre in Rome. Rooted in care, inclusivity, and ecological sensitivity, the project transforms a historic site into a place of recovery and discovery for young patients from the adjacent Bambino Gesù Hospital. The project uses a lightweight timber structure to preserve existing trees and amphitheatre steps. Nature is not a backdrop but an active participant—through a wind-responsive ecocentric façade, sensory planting, and outdoor learning. Colour-coded joinery supports spatial legibility, while voids and bridges encourage visibility, interaction, and empathy between children. The design aims to create a nurturing environment that blends education, play, and care within a regenerative, biophilic architecture.
