The Wedding of Casina: a Speculative Study on Ceremonies and Weddings in a Flooded Future Rome This project focuses on the interrelationship between floods and cities, with possible future narratives of flood awareness. Based on historical and predictive data, there is a high probability of severe floods in the  future. Therefore, a typical area of the Roman city was selected for this project and used as a mock site for a cyclical flood.

Inspired by the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy every 25 years, a flood mock will be held in the same period. People will use  removable and permanent spaces in which to adapt to and celebrate the arrival of water, and utilize architectural space to realize new ecological environments, with each simulation taking place over three months.

This speculative study incorporates elements of religious rituals, with a particular focus on weddings as an offshoot of religious rituals. It examines the measures taken to prepare for an impending flood, the response to the flood when it occurs, and after. A wedding is woven into this narrative as a literal and metaphorical element. It deconstructs the ceremony, exploring the specific union of the couple's contract and the symbolic intersection and transformation of old and new Rome.
